GABRIEL MEYER
Biography

Thrilled and excited by a special concert experience, Gabriel Meyer - born on April 5, 1989 - decided to study piano immediately and to pursue a career as a concert pianist. At that time, he had just turned 16 years old, and no one thought he could have a chance to start a musical education - or even successfully graduate - at this relatively late age.
In 2005 he began his studies at the conservatory of Zurich. After only three years, he was admitted to the Zurich University of the Arts under Prof. Adalbert Roetschi’s mentoring. In 2011 he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree of Arts in Music. Still in 2011, he began training in music education and obtained a Master’s degree of Arts in Music Pedagogy in 2013.
Since 2009 he gave private lessons. From 2009 - 2013 he attended several master classes with Prof. Norman Shetler in Vienna. In 2008, he started his piano career by performing at several venues in Switzerland. Between 2009 and 2010, he performed as a soloist with a chamber music group in various concerts in Saint Gerold, Austria. To finance his education, he worked every now and then as a bar pianist. He was granted two important scholarships which provided him financial support from 2009 - 2011: The Lyra Foundation Scholarship and the Elsy-Meyer Foundation Scholarship.
